Research Fields
The research activities which concern the Chemical Engineering Program (PEQ) are distributed among 8 areas, listed below. In many cases, there is strong interaction with other departments of the University, which allows researchers to develop interdisciplinary works, and also to share the labs and scientific research instruments, which is the case of the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Program at COPPE, the Macromolecules Institute – IMA, the Chemical Engineering and Biochemistry Departments of the School of Chemistry and other departments of the Chemistry Institute. The great majority of the research works at PEQ is currently focused on applications of key industries in the country and on the development of some of its basic inputs. More than an exhaustive enumeration, the lines of research exemplify PEQ’s potential in the oil and gas, petrochemical, and agri-food industries, as well as in the search for solutions for environmental preservation.
